Spay/Neuter Clinic Options

Not long ago, shelters had very few options when it came to spay/neuter services for their animals. If a shelter was without its own veterinarian or could not find a local practitioner to help, animals frequently left the shelter intact. While spay/neuter services are still a challenge for many shelters, a number of different models now exist for spay neuter clinics: mobile units, MASH-style clinics, “In-Clinic” clinics, and brick-and-mortar clinics are all being used successfully by different organizations around the country. If your organization is interested in setting up a spay-neuter clinic in your area, or if you’re simply curious about learning more about each of these types of clinics, checkout the ASPCA’s National Spay/Neuter Project and Humane Alliance’s National Spay/Neuter Response Team.
